Digital Learning

Digitization in education is a major and diversely discussed topic worldwide. While in some schools the meaning of a digitalized education is still generally discussed, on the other hand, extensive digital media and devices are in use of many schools and training organizations already. For private schools, in particular, it is even a matter of innovative strength to offer products that correspond to benchmark education in a modern world.

But the actual question is if digital learning makes things better or if it is just a mode that neither supports the students nor the teachers in the learning process. From our point of view, the new media and equipment are just normal teaching tools like a blackboard which has always been used for the school and teachers. They are tools that can (and should) be used to make learning better. They are tools which give us much more opportunities in learning and supporting future trends of learning like personalized learning, mastery-based learning and many other learning methods which we only can achieve in combination with these new tools. But more opportunities mean more responsibility, knowledge and skills for our teachers.

By the end of 2019, all our SGAVE partner schools will have a new e-learning platform. Our teachers are already using the platform as learners. In order to make our e-learning platform a really useful tool and system for our teachers, we have chosen various measures that support the implementation process of out platform for our schools and teachers:

  • The complete SGAVE curriculum with all learning situations and competences based on task-oriented learning is available on the platform
  • Each learning situation includes all kinds of documents for the teachers, which describe the complete course offline and online (course manual, course planning, assignments for students, tests, etc.)
  • Each teacher must attend training over the next few months, which includes the handling of the system but most important the handling of the classroom teaching in combination with e-learning tools and systems.

I know that we cannot offer the perfect template for the best blended learning course for every school, but we can help change the direction towards good learning concept and giving the teachers some ideas of making things better in combination with the new available tools for vocational learning.

Our system is available in China but will also be available in German and English language. As soon as the other languages are available, we will provide demo courses for guest users.

NEV-01 Basics Of Electrical Engineering

As part of teacher training, SGAVE also offers various technical training courses for the teachers of the SGAVE partner schools. One of these trainings took place at our SGAVE partner school and VW partner schools in Changchun.

NEV-01 Basics of Electrical Engineering is the first part of a training course to become a certified specialist in high-voltage technology and electric vehicles. NEV-01 Basics of Electrical Engineering ensures that the participants have the necessary basic knowledge for participation in the high-voltage part. After successful participation in this first part, the participants will participate in the trainings high-voltage technology and electric vehicle. With the successful completion of all parts, the participants receive the corresponding certificate, which is recognized according to German standards. The certificate is issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The first of the three parts, is carried out by a Chinese expert trainer, under the guidance of Germann experts. All available trainings are published on our website www.sgave.com.cn and of course also made available on our Learning Management System.

SGAVE Teacher Training in Wuxi

Teacher training is an important topic and will be more and more one of the most important topics in the future. This is not only a challenge in China, but also worldwide for every country and every society. As part of the SGAVE program, we have redefined our teacher training program and set new standards for our teachers.
The first training of this program took place in the last two weeks in Wuxi, at one of our partner schools. A total of 25 teachers from various new SGAVE partner schools in China participated in the first part of the program. During these 10 days the main focus was on the implementation of teaching units based on the SGAVE curriculum. This curriculum forms the basis for the training of apprentices as automotive mechatronics technicians. The challenge for our teachers is to plan, develop and ultimately implement action-oriented teaching based on the information in the curriculum. This is the necessary core competence that we want to achieve in the first part of our teacher training.
Based on the principles of the German dual training system, we have worked with the teachers to develop teaching concepts in the sense of an action-oriented training and carried these out in the training workshop of the SGAVE partner school. In the sense of an action-oriented instruction, the teachers were able to create the lesson plans during the practical training and to carry out the training under the supervision of the trainers. Ultimately, this topic was also part of the final examination, which was conducted by two other examiners from the SGAVE partner school.
In addition to classroom training, the teachers also had online media at their disposal. With the new SGAVE internet platform, our participants can also use all documents and many other media and documents online. The examination was also conducted via the SGAVE internet platform. The examination always consists of three parts. In addition to the theoretical test, a practical examination is of course held. But what is particularly important to us is the implementation of the teaching methods in the new schools. A sustainability test is always carried out to check the implementation of the measures in the SGAVE partner school. Approximately 6 weeks after completion of the training, the participants hand in an elaborated lesson plan and video recordings from the courses on site.
We are convinced that the sustainable implementation of educational measures is one of the greatest challenges in teacher training and, with the sustainability test, we are giving the factor a significant weighting. You can’t change the world in ten days, but we have laid the foundations for a change that will hopefully soon bear fruit and improve education. Through the new training programme and the new possibilities of e-learning, we can develop training more systematically and sustainably.
We wish all participants much success with the newly acquired skills.

SGAVE Auditor Training in Shanghai

To promote the SGAVE project and ensure the quality of implementation, the annual training for the responsible auditors of the SGAVE schools took place on 21st March.

As always, there was an extensive program on the agenda in which the future auditors were trained on their tasks. These are the following training content:

develop four competencies of the auditors
explain the examination indicators of the examination process from different angles
share experiences of representatives of manufacturers with teachers
to inform about the current status of the audit work (especially about the new digital platform)
Teachers discuss in the group

The auditor training is part of the quality assurance process of our SGAVE schools. Various data from the schools are collected and made available in corresponding reports. This gives the management of the SGAVE schools and the COC the opportunity to monitor the quality and take appropriate action.

For the first time, an online portal will collect and archive all results from the audit activities this year. Thus, the participating SGAVE schools can see their results online in a timely manner. The COC and the Ministry of Education can view the overall results of the schools and respond specifically to trends and weaknesses.
