New courses in the SGAVE program

The qualification of teaching staff is one of the most important factors regarding the education quality of our partner schools. Instead of transmitting knowledge solely, the role of teachers in the SGAVE program is expected to plan and develop proper lessons, facilitating students to develop essential skills for their future careers.

In the SGAVE system the certification programs for teachers vary in three levels. The primary level focuses on the systematic development of action-oriented instruction under the framework of the German dual vocational training system. The intermediate-level program further deepens knowledge delivered by the primary-level courses, and also contains lessons related to e-learning and assessment design. Teachers with the advanced-level certificate are qualified to conduct the training sessions at the primary and intermediate level.

These programs, adopting a blended teaching and learning approach, are available to all in-service teachers. For those who are interested, please contact us anytime:

The Final SGAVE Regional Center Meeting in 2020 was successfully held

As the last regular one this year, the SGAVE Regional Center Meeting held by Center of Competence (CoC) for Sino-German Vocational Education (Tongji Uni.) started at 20:00 on December 3, 2020, lasting for 100 minutes.

During the meeting, CoC introduced and explained to the regional centers the progress of each aspect of the SGAVE project, including online audit, examiner training, teacher certification, learning management system, SGAVE promotional videos and brochures, current situation of cooperation between SGAVE and Bosch, and the latest information of president meeting, followed by discussion on the current progress of developing potential SGAVE partner schools by all meeting members.

The epidemic this year made it impossible to run all the business as the original established mode. The SGAVE project, however, has not stopped making progress. In such difficult time, CoC together with all the regional centers managed to conduct a series of regular meetings, audit expert workshops, coaching expert workshops, and enterprise examiner training workshops by using video conference software and learning management platforms. Work on online training, examination and audit has also been nailed, ensuring the smooth implementation of this project.

The successful completion of this SGAVE Regional Center Meeting does not mean the end of the mission, which will be continued step by step in the future. Eight SGAVE regional centers will work hand in glove with CoC by inviting more vocational schools to join the SGAVE system and facilitating its implementation to make joint contributions to the improvement of China’s vocational education.

SGAVE promo shooting has been successfully made

On November 12, 2020, the shooting of the promotional video of the Sino-German Automotive Vocational Education (SGAVE) programme was officially started in Wuxi Institute of Technology. After two days of intense work, the preliminary recording was successfully completed. At present, it has been on the post-production stage and is expected to be launched by the end of the year.

The SGAVE programme has become a benchmark for the development of Chinese vocational education since its establishment in 2011. This promotional video has been made with the purpose of promoting Chinese vocational education and sharing our experiences with more vocational colleges. It is anticipated that people could know about SGAVE more intuitively through interviews with students, teachers and dealers, as well as the real training environment and the actual workplace presented by this promo.

During the shooting, Klaus-Juergen Brix, the vice director of the Center of Competence at Tongji University, conducted an on-site instruction session by asking questions, highly praised the contribution of students and teachers, and expressed confidence and expectation for the development of SGAVE.

Please look forward to our promo video!

The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and Robert Bosch GmbH are starting a cooperation in the field of “dual vocational training”. The Center of Competence for Sino-German Vocational Education (CoC) of Tongji University and Bosch Automotive Service Solutions Co. Ltd. cooperate strongly to help the continuous development and promotion of SGAVE system.

In order to implement the initiative of Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel to further expand cooperation in vocational training between China and Germany, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in September 2020 to further promote the integration of industry and education, and to further develop vocational training in the “dual system” and applied sciences in China. Both sides will focus on the needs of Chinese institutions and industries, endeavoring to establish cooperation between schools and companies in line with China’s vocational training reform and development as well as the requirements of the modern vocational training system.

Under the MoU, the Center of Competence for Sino-German Vocational Education (CoC) of Tongji University and Bosch Automotive Service Solutions Co. Ltd  have also signed a memorandum of cooperation. Both parties will be in close cooperation, further developing curriculum and courses based on the Sino-German Automotive Vocational Education (SGAVE) system, facilitating Chinese vocational schools and application-oriented universities, and cultivating skill-based talents in accord with the needs of Chinese modern technology development.

Exdaminer Training Body Repair

On the afternoon of 15 July, the Chinese-German Competence Centre for Vocational Training at Tongji University, in cooperation with Volkswagen China, organized an online training course for examiners in the car body repair profession. Teachers from SGAVE partner schools with the relevant subject area took part in the online training.
The event was opened by Mrs. Xu, Director of the Chinese-German Competence Center for Vocational Training and Ouyang Li Peng, Senior Manager Volkswagen China.
Afterwards, Klaus-Juergen Brix gave an overview of SGAVE’s digital learning management platform, which will be used for all future examinations in the car body sector. The entire exam, the theoretical test and the two practical tasks, are integrated into the system and can also be assessed directly in the system.
Mr. Ouyang Lipeng then presented the process flows within the intermediate exam, the tasks of the examiners, the grading criteria and the management of the exam results.
Mr Geng Zan, a trainer from Volkswagen Training Academy China, explained the content of the exam in detail to the teachers and how the school should proceed from the professional perspective of body repair technology. The contents included the preparation of the workshops, tools and materials as well as safety regulations.
The training was successfully completed in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The trainers not only learned about SGAVE’s action-oriented examination model, but also how to behave as examiners and how to assess correctly.
The SGAVE system aims to implement and continuously improve the training system for technical specialists for the Chinese after sales market. At the initiative of Volkswagen China, the SGAVE system was transferred from the profession of automotive technician to the profession of body repair technician. With the online training, the Chinese-German Competence Center for Vocational Training at Tongji University and Volkswagen China have jointly taken another step towards implementing this new profession.
We thank Volkswagen China for their generous support of the SGAVE system!
