SGAVE NEV Curriculum Review Kick-off Meeting Successfully Held
On February 7, 2021, an online Review Kick-off Meeting of SGAVE New Energy Vehicles (NEV) Curriculum was successfully held by the Center of Competence (CoC) at Tongji University. The experts attending this meeting consisted of representatives from both business and education sectors, including Daimler, BYD, SAIC, NIO, Chiway Education Group, Tongji University, Changchun Automobile Industry Institute, and Wuxi South Ocean College etc.
With the continuous introduction of policies encouraging the promotion and application of new energy vehicles, China’s NEV industry has entered the ‘fast lane’. More and more automobile manufacturers are launching NEV models, but there is a huge gap in the reserves of personnel who master relevant new alternative technologies. Against this background, the SGAVE program, under the leadership and support of the Ministry of Education (MoE) of China, transplanted the traditional automotive electromechanical subject horizontally to the NEV one, and developed the SGAVE talent training program for the NEV subject, including but not limited to curriculum and related teaching materials.
At this meeting, Ms. Xu Zhiju, Director of CoC, delivered a speech introducing the background and history of the SGAVE program. Mr. KJ Brix, Deputy Director of CoC, briefly explained the curriculum development strategy which is practice and competence-oriented based on the German dual education system, the development structure including learning field, learning situation, and customer orders, and other related teaching materials and documents.
Dean Xia Lingwei, Deputy Director of Shanghai Road and Transportation Association (STTA) Training Base for High Skilled Talent and General Supervisor of Chiway Education Group, made a detailed analysis of the general idea regarding the SGAVE NEV curriculum development and planning.
Finally, the experts at this meeting held lively discussions from various perspectives, such as vocational education research, industry development and enterprise employment, putting forward preliminary and constructive suggestions on all aspects of the curriculum, such as the overall framework, learning fields, class hour allocation, knowledge extension, students’ professionalism, examinations and qualifications etc., which will lead a promising direction in developing new ideas. Let us look forward to the second Review Meeting!
